DEEP™ THERAPISTS

A person who intuits the ways of the heart stands a better chance of living well. A society of those who do so holds a promise we can only guess at. While we cannot alter the nature of love, we can choose to defy its dictates or to thrive within its walls. Those with the wisdom to thrive within its walls will heed their hearts and draw strength from their relatedness.
— Lewis, Amini, and Lannon

Through DEEP™ Trainings for Therapists, Candyce provides therapists with in-depth education in the theory and practice of therapy that:

  • is based on cutting-edge interpersonal neurobiology, emotion theory, developmental sciences, and attachment theory.
  • begins with creating a warm, engaged, and helpful relationship between therapist and client; not a neutral, distant relationship where the therapist doesn’t respond.
  • creates a collaboration between client and therapist, so that the client understands how the therapy works, and why the therapist is doing what she is doing.
  • is healing-oriented, rather than pathology-oriented.
  • facilitates and focuses on deep healing and transformation in the client, and helps clients gain access to their full range of emotions, to an experience of their authenticity, and to meaning, confidence, and healthy relationships.
  • facilitates a new healing experience in the room with the therapist, rather than simply talking about problems or relying on intellectual insights to make changes.

The therapists listed below have completed training courses, taught by Candyce, that focus on this type of experiential, existential therapy. The quotes contained within the listings are these therapists' personal words about what drew them to train in DEEP™ work.

The Enriched DEEP™ Skills Training Course you’ll see listed below is a year-long intensive and experiential training course that requires in-depth emotional and intellectual participation by the therapist trainees.

“I have always been authentic with clients, but working from the DEEP perspective facilitates connecting with clients on a profoundly meaningful level. DEEP not only allows but encourages the therapist to bring him- or herself into the therapy room to truly ‘be and feel with’ the client. It is the most valuable training I have had as a therapist.”

“I was first drawn to the word ‘DEEP’, as it is part of my nature to go to the root of things. I also wanted to integrate neurobiology and attachment so that I could deepen healing in body, mind and heart. The DEEP training fulfills that goal in a beautiful way as Candyce practices with us what she knows heals. I am truly grateful!”

“As a brand new counselor I feel very fortunate to be starting out with such a solid theoretical foundation. This body of work combines cutting edge science with the wisdom gained from much clinical experience. It has provided me with something I didn't realize was possible – a well-defined map to the territory of the human mind and heart and the skills to navigate it. As I begin to apply what I have learned in the DEEP training and make it my own, I am awed by its power. As Candyce says, ‘This stuff works!’”

“Through the DEEP/AEDP training, I gained knowledge about how to apply the latest research findings in attachment theory, mindfulness, and neurobiology. This approach is congruent with my belief that we all have the ability to heal and work through overwhelming experiences. I have more tools in which to help my clients work through these difficult experiences, more fully express their emotions, and gain a new understanding of themselves.”

“Training with Candyce in the AEDP model felt less like learning a new approach and more like a coming home. My deeply held belief that the best healing and transformation comes from secure, safe relationships with my clients, was not only explained but encouraged. Now that I have the training and the tools to back it up, I can't imagine working any other way.”
